Sir G.E Cartier P.S. 2025-2026 Safe and Inclusive School Plan
Our school is committed to providing all students with a safe, caring, and inclusive learning environment free from bullying and harassment that promotes respect, acceptance, and empathy.
Staff, students, parents and caregivers, and community partners will work together as a team to help make our school safe and welcoming for everyone.
The Safe and Inclusive School Plan highlights some of the key actions that our school community will put in place as part of our bullying prevention and intervention efforts.
Key Priorities and Goals
This year we are focusing on Cyberbullying.
There has been a significant increase in cyberbullying, and we believe that if we focus on being good digital citizens, we will build more positive peer to peer relationships through social interactions and restorative practices.
Key Actions or Strategies
- Restorative Practices – All staff will engage students in restorative conversations and embed community circles in their programs to repair and rebuild relationships; to help students better understand the impact of their actions and to learn to develop empathy.
- Education: Every classroom will intentionally and explicitly teach digital and social media citizenship.
- School-Wide: Monthly character development assemblies where each trait is connected to technology (e.g. Responsibility: Taking ownership of actions and consequences related to technology use, Accountability: Being accountable for the impact of one's online presence, Integrity: Being honest and ethical by respecting privacy, and taking responsibility for its impact).
